Miguel Ángel Vásquez, baritone
Miguel Ángel Vásquez Afro-latino crossover baritone lionized for his “golden voice” and “dramatic presence” is thrilled to sing another Menotti . He was last seen in Amahl and the Night Visitors at the Mitzi E. Newhouse at Lincoln Center Theater in association with the Metropolitan Opera as well as playing Leonce in A Bayou Legend at Opera Vermont and recording a symphonic version of the opera with NERO to be released later this year. His versatility finds him in opera houses, theaters, concert halls, cabarets, and parties singing various genres of music.
He’s performed as a soloist in many iconic NYC venues including Carnegie Hall, 54 Below, Green Room 42, Merkin Hall, Le Poison Rouge, Symphony Space, Cutting Room, and Rockwood Music Hall. Favorite Productions include the world premiere of Stonewall the Opera at Jazz at Lincoln Center with New York City Opera, Watch Night at the Perelman PAC, the grammy nominated production of X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X with BMOP/ Odyssey Opera, Mother of us All with a chamber orchestra from the NY Philharmonic at the Met Museum and the titular characters in Sweeney Todd and Don Giovanni. Other Favorite Opera’s include Lucia di Lamermoor (Enrico), La Favorita (Il Re Alfonso), Carmen (Escamillo, El Dancaire, Morales), Madama Butterfly (Imperial Commisarrio/ Sharpless cv.) , Le Nozze di Figaro (Figaro, Count Almaviva), Die Zauberflöte (Papageno), Die Feldermaus (Dr. Falke) and Porgy and Bess (Crown).
Some Favorite Musical Theater Productions include Evita (Peron, Magaldi cv), Beauty and the Beast (Beast), Side Show (Jake), Les Miserables (Javert), Ragtime (Coalhouse cv), Showboat (Joe cv), and Into The Woods (Cinderella’s Prince/ The Wolf). Last year he wrote, starred, and produce a one man show titled Mr. B-bop: The Billy Eckstine Story it premiered off Broadway at the Tank.
